Tusayan Moves Forward On Important Land Purchase That Could Be Home To Town Hall

April 1, 2024

Tusayan is moving forward on buying a parcel located at 200 State Route 64 in Tusayan. The vote was unanimous at the March 20th Town Council meeting.

Councilmember Josh Collet said the land purchase is an important step for the town to establish its own autonomy. He noted that the property could make a good location for a new Town Hall, for example, as the property is more centrally located than the current Town Hall. In fact, Tusayan’s existing Town Hall sits on land owned by the Grand Canyon Airport.

Councilman Andrew Aldaz says it’s an opportunity for the town to have its own place as space at the current Town Hall is limited.

Councilman Greg Brush says it’s a rare opportunity for the Town to own land in the heart of Tusayan.

City Manager Charlie Hendrix said the seller turned down an offer from a higher bidder because they wanted to see the property to go the community.
