Congressman O’Halleran Coming To Tusayan. Will Likely Get Stilo Sales Pitch

August 14, 2017

Arizona Congressman Tom O’Halleran will be visiting Tusayan August 29th. He’ll be getting a tour of the Stile development sites at 10 X and Kotzin. From there he will meet with residents and business leaders at the Squire Inn, which is owned by Stilo business partner Elling Halvorson.

The Town has been making a full court press with members of congress ever since the US Forest Service rejected road access needed to clear the way for Stilo’s controversial development plan. That road access request was returned after the Forest Services received more than 200,000 messages in opposition.

Despite that opposition, the town has felt the fix was in and council members have been bending ears in Washington about the rejection and other issues with the Forest Service. Those efforts have included letters and trips to Washington DC.

Town Manager Eric Duthie is hopeful more consideration will be paid to gateway communities or communities next to national parks, “If the guys at the top are making that suggestion to move forward,  I would suspect that that message is trickling through the agencies that there is a desire to work with the locals.”
