Tusayan May Be Getting A Winery

December 12, 2015

Ann and Lou Serna, Operators of the Canyon Plaza Resort, are seeking a liquor license that would allow them to sell wine wholesale for their Wagon Wheel Winery. They have been working on this project since 2012 and have planted some 2,000 vines outside of Williams. However, they have been having a hard time getting a special liquor license from the county because of zoning rules.

On December 2nd, the Serna’s sought a license in Tusayan and they received the Town Council’s blessing. Mayor Greg Bryan exclaimed, “Go get and congratulations.”

The wine process takes a very long time and it will be s few years before the locally grown wine is ready for market. However, the Serna’s have been processing Arizona grown grapes and they have bottled several hundred cases.

With the approval of the Tusayan Town Council, the next step is to get final approval from the State of Arizona.

Ann Serna said her father had always wanted to open a winery in the area.
