The new contract for Tusayan Town Manager Eric Duthie calls for $116,000 a year in salary, plus $12,000 a year to cover health insurance. That’s in addition to the Town providing him housing.

The compensation is consistent with Duthie’s resume and experience. His skill set merits such a salary. However it is worth noting that Tusayan has a population of less than 500.

It’s also worth noting that if Tusayan terminates Duthie he collects three months’ pay. If he is terminated after November 1, 2016 he collects six months’ pay.

While Tusayan’s council depicted Will Wright’s departure as a ‘retirement’ Wright was paid $50,000 in severance. That’s about six months’ pay.
