Flagstaff Opposes Stilo Project

March 15, 2015

Opposition to Stilo's unpopular and environmentally damaging development continues to grow. The City of Flagstaff has voted in favor of a resolution opposing the development in Tusayan.   As the Forest Service continues its awkward alliance with Stilo, it can expect more opposition. Here is a link to a video of the meeting.

In its presentation, the Forest Service could not provide any answers on the water issue because Stilo has yet to provide an explanation. That was a major concern for the Flagstaff City Council.

Rick Resnick representing the Sierra Club told the Flagstaff Council, "When a development of this scope is done, it typically destroys the experience that people come there for in the first place meaning the Grand Canyon."

That's why the council voted 5 to 2 for the resolution opposing the Forest Service easement which would pave the way for the Stilo development. Flagstaff understands that if the Grand Canyon is negatively impacted by the Stilo development, the entire region will suffer.
