Council Candidate Profiles Fitzgerald/Wirth

August 23, 2014

As he seeks another term on the Tusayan Town Council it's worth noting that Bill Fitzgerald has lived in Tusayan and the Canyon area for 22 years. In the 90's he attended meetings of the Design and Overlay Committee. The committee produced a general plan for the future growth of Tusayan before it was incorporated.

Prior to being appointed to the Town Council, he attended almost all of the meetings and served on the public housing committee. He pushed for developing a town park for the residents of Tusayan. He has helped the Tusayan Fire Department obtain grants. Fitzgerald volunteered to help create the park Sports Court and he helps maintian a portion of the Arizona Trail.

Council Candidate Becky Wirth works for Elling Halvorson. She moved to Tusayan two years ago. She said, "I have always been interested in politics but have never actively participated before.  I have now been a part of this community for 2 years and feel it is time for me to become active for a number of reasons, one is that I have always been a bit of a protector, either with my family or my extended family which are the people that I work with.
