The Tusayan Town Council has selected a new Town Manager. At a special meeting held May 22nd the council voted to give the job to Will Wright.  He starts in July.

On May 1st the council interviewed Will Wright, the current Community Development Director for Graham County and former Thatcher Town Manager.

Wright told the council, “The Foundation of all local government is the citizens.”

Wright said he has lots of experience working with outside agencies such as the Forest Service and NACOG (The Northern Arizona Council of Governments).

There was some drama prior to the appointment. On May 15th, the Town Council was supposed to vote on a contract for Wright, but that vote was abruptly cancelled with no explanation from Mayor Greg Bryan.

Wright was among the finalists originally selected to be interviewed in January, but for some reason that did not happen. When the other two finalists failed to make the cut, another invitation went to Wright

Here is a link to the correspondence between Wright and Mayor Bryan. It includes an exchange back in December which invited Wright to be interviewed.
