As Tusayan looks to bring more tourists to the area, Flix North America has just added service from Phoenix to Tusayan, and back.

The new route runs Thursday through Monday, with one daily trip in each direction, connecting Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport to Tusayan, near the General Store. The bus also makes stops in Glendale and Flagstaff.

According to the FlixBus website the fares are generally under $40 for a one-way ticket and the buses leave Phoenix between 5am and 6am. The buses generally depart Tusayan between 3:30pm and 7:30pm. The service is seasonal, running throughout the summer travel season.

Regular passenger bus service to the area  has been sporadic since the demise of Nava-Hopi Tours in 2001.

"The Grand Canyon is one of America’s most remarkable natural landmarks, and as we mark the country’s 250th anniversary this summer, we want more people to be able to experience it,” said Karina Frayter, head of communications for Flix North America.
