News Release: Grand Canyon High School Teacher Named 2026 Coconino County Teacher of the Year

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Applause filled the room and a strong sense of pride united attendees at the 2026 Coconino County Teacher of the Year Celebration, where educators were honored for their extraordinary impact on students and the community.
Hosted by Coconino County Superintendent of Schools Cheryl Mango-Paget, the celebration took place on Thursday, April 9 at the High Country Conference Center in Flagstaff. The evening recognized outstanding teachers from across the county, celebrating those who go above and beyond to inspire learning, foster growth and shape the future of education.
2026 Award Recipients:
Coconino County Teacher of the Year: Adrian Alvarez, Grand Canyon School

The event also celebrated the Ambassadors for Excellence, outstanding educators recognized as finalists for their leadership, innovation and unwavering commitment to students:

The celebration brought together families, school leaders, and community partners for an unforgettable night of recognition and gratitude—highlighting a shared commitment to elevating the teaching profession and celebrating the educators who make a lasting difference in the lives of students every single day.
