Tusayan Explores More Cash Payments For Residents

January 23, 2024

Following the success of past cash distribution payments to Tusayan residents, the Town is looking to build on that success.

Residents have received several cash payments over the past few years when the town distributed thousands of dollars through the federal government’s American Rescue Plan Act. Mayor Clarinda Vail has wanted to expand on those efforts using Town surplus funds. At its January 9th meeting, the rest of Town Council said they were open to the idea. Mayor Vail and Town Manager Charlie Hendrix are exploring options such as how much residents would receive, how to distribute the funds, and how residency would be established.

Mayor Vail has been a consistent advocate for payments to residents and exploring this was identified as a priority during the last council retreat.
