A Day at the Races for Tusayan

More than 250 people participated in the Grand Canyon Half Marathon  on Saturday November 4th and 150 people participated in the 5K.

The courses started in front of the Grand Canyon Visitor Center and looped through the  Kaibab National Forest land just south of the park.

Busby Spencer of Flagstaff took first place for the half marathon with a time of 1:25.22. Jose DelGado  of Tucson placed second with a time of 1:26:44. Third place went to Steve Brishay from La Habra, California with a time of  1:33:03. The runners came from all over the U.S. with one runner hailing from the Czech Republic.

Kimmykim Si of the Grand Canyon took first for the 5K with a time of 23.45. Second place went to Tucson’s Nina Johnson with a time of 27:24. Kegan Wadsworth of Phoenix placed third with a time of 27:25.

A portion of the proceeds from registration fees and donations will go toward the Grand Canyon Food Pantry and the Tusayan Fire Department.
