Tusayan Looking At Installing An “Ice” Skating Rink

September 14, 2021

Tusayan may be getting an outdoor ice-skating rink using a synthetic surface that simulates ice. Potential sites include the sports complex, the Tusayan Fire District parking lot, the IMAX parking lot, or the parking lot next to the McDonalds.

The rink would operate in the winter months and would be stored during the summer. It could even serve as a venue for special events during the holidays or on Valentine’s Day.

“I think it would be a wonderful thing to offer the community and our tourists,” said Mayor Clarinda Vail.

The rink could accommodate as many as 55 skaters at a time.

The price tag for the project is estimated at $90,000, not included staffing costs.

The Town Council voted to look into the idea and review the references of the vendor.
