Council Member Elect Brady Harris Declared Winner

September 17, 2018

Brady Harris is ready to step into his new role as a member of the Tusayan Town Council now that the Town confirmed he had enough votes for a win. Harris issued the following statement:

"Thank you Tusayan for the support that has been shown for me and my family. The response in the primary elections was a testament of the people's will, and I hope to live up to those expectations.

The community has been incredibly supportive of my candidacy, but it is not over yet. It is imperative, now more then ever, to vote. Vote early and thoughtfully, spend the time to get to know your candidates and what they stand for. Read the propositions being presented, and what they mean for you and your family's future. Your vote counts, and carries great weight in a town of our size.

In the words of Franklin D Roosevelt, "Nobody will ever deprive the American people of the right to vote except the American people themselves and the only way they could do this is by not voting."

I am grateful to live in such a beautiful place here at the gateway to the Grand Canyon. This town has given me and my family a lot, and I hope to o give back, by serving you all honestly and diligently over the next 4 years."

Harris was the top vote getter with 52 votes in the August primary. Councilman David Chavez and challenger Robb Baldosky each had 44 votes. A recount is underway to determine a winner. If the tie remains, the two candidates will face each other in a November runoff.
