Welcome to the Grand Canyon Community News Weekly email for August 17th. Our goal is to combine all Grand Canyon area Activities, Events, Meetings, Volunteer Opportunities in one newsletter and send it out weekly. IMAX Telescope Eclipse Monday 9 am to 12 pm  Want to safely see the eclipse on Monday?  Join us in the IMAX courtyard to view through a telescope.

One Big Welcome

Brand USA is working on a campaign to Welcome foreign visitors to the US.  The Grand Canyon Chamber Members are Coordinating with NPS to enter this fun video project but we need your help!  Tuesday August 22nd at 2 pm we will be meeting in front of Vercamps Visitor Center and walking to a point where we can video saying "Welcome to the Grand Canyon South Rim"  - All Languages Welcome and encouraged to join us!

Active Trails - Event Aug 25th

Join the National Park Service Rangers, Grand Canyon School staff and our generous community partners in the Phantom Challenge - a competition to hike, bike, walk, run and snowshoe the length of Grand Canyon - 277 miles.  First event Friday Aug 25th Rim walk along Hermit Road.  For more information contact Kaylyn Oates koates@grandcanyonschool.org.

Job and Resource Fair

The Grand Canyon Chamber is sponsoring a Job and Resource Fair on Tuesday August 29th from 10 am - 2 pm at the Best Western Squire Inn Pub.  7 locale employers with available fall and winter opportunities will be there.  We will also have have representatives from Veterans, Coconino County and North Country Health Care.  

Mammogram coming to Tusayan

Halvorson Seibold are once again sponsoring MOM - Mobile On-Site Mammography on September 25th from 7 am - 4 pm at the Best Western Grand Canyon Squire Inn.  To schedule an appointment please call 480-967-3767. Medicare patients are welcome, most major insurance accepted, non-insurance patients pay $167, 3D, Full Field digital Mammography and CAD computerized reading.  They can also accommodate breast implant patients.

Join the Grand Canyon Climb to Conquer Cancer Team. This year the event will take place in Flagstaff on the 19th of August at the AZ Snowbowl. You can sign up here  if you have any questions you can call Pat Martinez at 928-310-0085.

MOPS - Mothers of Preschoolers Group coming to Grand Canyon in August

Here at MOPS, we are on a mission to celebrate motherhood.

We build circles of women who love each other like family, because raising humans is beautiful and hard, and having each other to lean on is life-giving. That’s why we connect moms all over the world to a community of women, in their own cities, who meet together to laugh, cry and embrace the journey of being a mom.

This is motherhood, and together we can change the world in all the best ways.

Grand Canyon AA

Grand Canyon chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous meet three times a week at the South Rim on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays in the Kachina Room of Kachina Lodge at 7 pm.
