Volunteers/Donations Needed

Parents and T eachers of Grand Canyon School:

The Grand Canyon Parent Teacher Association is parent-run volunteer group that advocates for students and encourages and supports parent involvement in our children's education. In the past we have sponsored a Teacher Appreciation lunch and supported activities such as Odyssey of the Mind, Grand Canyon Youth, movie nights, and the spelling bee. The PTA supports all our students, from kindergarten through 12th grade.

We are looking for new members who are interested in supporting the PTA’s programs in Grand Canyon Schools. With just a couple of hours each from a few more members, we can add more programs to the school and provide more opportunities for students. We will therefore be sponsoring a membership drive the second week of July during school registration. All parents, teachers and students are welcome!

The PTA membership fee is $10 per year, due when you sign up. Membership forms will be available at the school during registration for the 2017-2018 school year.

Girls on the Run is hoping to be able to put together two teams but they need a Head Coach and an assistant coach. Girls on the Run is a physical activity-based positive youth development program (PA-PYD) designed to develop and enhance girls social, psychological and physical competencies to successfully navigate life experiences. For more information on Girls on the run click here. Please contact Marney Babbitt at 928-522-9452 or email

Grand Canyon Community Church
This summer Grand Canyon Community Church is organizing lunches for children in our community on Mondays and Thursdays. If you would like to get involved please contact Mike Scott at 207-229-1228.

Grand Canyon Association
The 2017 Celebration of Art is approaching and we are looking for host families for our artists. Hosting an artist is an excellent opportunity for community members to meet individuals from all over the country who appreciate the canyon as we do. Living with a host family during the Celebration of Art is preferred by some artists as they enjoy spending time with those of us that live at Grand Canyon.

The Plein air painters will need accommodations from September 8 th-17 th in order to participate in the event. Artists are typically out of the home before sunrise and gone for the bulk of the day, busy painting the canyon, they may return around lunch time and after sunset. Hosts are not obliged to provide dinner but may do so if they wish. If you have a spare bedroom and would like to volunteer to be a host, you will be rewarded with the experience of a lifetime. Thank you for your consideration.
Contact Heather Peeters if you can host an artist 928-638-7156.
