SBA Opens Disaster Loans to Businesses, Nonprofits Affected by Grand Canyon Flooding

October 16, 2026

Small businesses and private nonprofit organizations suffering economic losses from recent flash flooding at Grand Canyon National Park can now apply for low-interest federal disaster loans through the U.S. Small Business Administration.

The disaster declaration, issued Oct. 13, covers Coconino, Gila, Mohave, Navajo and Yavapai counties in Arizona, along with Kane and San Juan counties in Utah.

The declaration makes the SBA’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan program available to eligible small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives and private nonprofits whose financial losses are directly tied to the flooding.

The loans may be used for working capital and operating expenses that could have been covered if the disaster had not occurred. Applicants do not need to have sustained physical damage to qualify.

Rep. Eli Crane urged affected organizations to consider the assistance, saying the loans could help offset losses and support recovery for park staff, gateway communities and local businesses.

Applications and additional information are available through the SBA’s disaster assistance portal. Applicants may also call the SBA Customer Service Center at (800) 659-2955 or email disastercustomerservice@sba.gov. People who are deaf, hard of hearing or have a speech disability may dial 7-1-1 for telecommunications relay services.

The deadline to apply for economic injury assistance is July 13, 2027.
